From a family of Showmen, I was born into a culture of storytelling, words, performance, and art. Stories not only connect us to those who came before us, but also root us in the landscape and rhythms of the countryside around us.
I have long been inspired by the ancient landscape of the West Country, the seasons and rhythms of our country, and the stories told by those journeying on them. These paths lie today under the light of the same stars that guided those who went before us.
My work explores the diverse elements that contribute to this beautiful place, encompassing and intertwining a variety of subjects: Nature, Astronomy, Astrology, Mythology, Colour and Feminity.
I am particularly interested in the mythology of women.
Women have always been the creators, the midwives and healers in the community - wise women passing on knowledge from generation to generation.
I bring to life the women of this land, the guardians of wells and caves, the places between worlds, the shapeshifters, the goddesses, the story tellers, and the granters of wishes - for a price.
These women are the messengers of the divine, the universe and the other worlds, and the guardians of the natural world.
The seasonal rituals and stories of our land are linked not only to earthly cycles, but also to the planets, solar system and our own galaxy.
The moon, stars and planets played a vital role in helping our ancestors navigate through their lives.
The Dorset Cursus and its alignment with the movement of the winter sun and ancient patterns of living, all connect the natural world around us here with the infinity of the wider universe.
I explore the natural features of our landscape: both how they have been shaped by humans, and in turn how the landscape has influenced us.
Our ancestors travelled between communities for trade and leisure, for occasions and celebrations, sharing gossip and good fortune, hardship and hope.
The passing of the seasons, marked by sacred rituals and explained through storytelling, connected our communities together through time.
